Orgasm
An orgasm is the intense feeling of physical pleasure that human beings experience at the climax of sexual stimulation. It is the climax of sexual excitement, experienced as an intensely pleasurable sensation caused by a series of strong involuntary contractions of the muscles of the genital organs. Both men and women can have an orgasm. Men need to orgasm in order to deposit sperm near the cervix, but women do not necessarily need an orgasm to get pregnant. A woman can get pregnant with or without having an orgasm. Many women wonder whether they can get pregnant without having an orgasm or whether an orgasm can improve their chances of getting pregnant. You could get pregnant even if you don't have an orgasm, though having an orgasm is likely more fun. The only thing necessary to get pregnant is for sperm enter the vagina and fertilize the egg.
Most importantly, orgasms help make sexual intercourse more fun and enjoyable. Studies have shown that having an orgasm during pregnancy has no adverse effect on the pregnancy and does not hurt the baby and it has not been shown to complicate a pregnancy. In fact, one study showed that women who have orgasms during pregnancy may have easier labors. If it feels good to you, go ahead and enjoy it. Some women feel contractions when they have an orgasm, but those are different than the contractions of labor and disappear shortly after the orgasm. Some women who have certain high-risk pregnancies may want to discuss with their doctor whether lovemaking is OK in pregnancy.
