Pregnancy Week 2: Tips and Symptoms
Fetus
During the pregnancy week 2, you are not yet pregnant but should know about ovulation and fertility symptoms. At the end of pregnancy week 2, ovulation usually happens and it is during week 2 that you get pregnant from making love regularly every 1-2 days. Implantation will take p;lace during pregnancy week 3 or 4 and conception has not occured yet.
Your Body
Typical ovulation signs and symptoms in pregnancy week 2 like "mittelschmerz" pain in the middle and cramps signal ripening of the egg in preparation for ovulation. During pregnancy week 2 the menstrual cycle is now in it's second week, which means eggs are ripening and getting ready for ovulation and the uterus is planning for the fertilized egg implantation. Even if a woman does not plan on conceiving a child, her uterus will plan accordingly every month. The lining of the uterus will be lined with fresh blood vessels and tissues perfect for nestling baby and placenta. In pregnancy week 2 the ovaries are also preparing for the ejection of the egg (ovulation) and that will give you typical fertility and ovulation symptoms. One or more eggs ripen in one of the two ovaries (in some cases, both ovaries). Once ripened, eggs are released into the fallopian tubes to move closer to sperm for conception. It is that ripening process and hormonal changes that go along with it which give you the typical fertility and ovulation symptoms and tell you that you are fertile. It is in week 2 when you have fertility and ovulation symptoms that you have to make love regularly every 1-2 days if you want to improve your chances getting pregnant. If conception does not occur, the egg will simply wash out of the body through the cervix. If conception does occur, the egg continues to travel until it reaches the uterus where it implants in the uterine lining for the next 30+ weeks of growth. If conception occurs, there may be a bit of bleeding and cramping associated with the egg implanting in the uterus, but many women never notice. However, it is a huge sign that baby is implanted and ready to grow.
Dad
Dad is still thinking about having a baby, conceiving a baby and what it means to be a father. At this time, there are few changes going on in his body or life. Sperm is being produced every day with millions of happy swimmers ready to meet the egg. It only takes one sperm to create a baby, but occasionally more than one sperm will reach the egg at the same time. If that occurs, Dad could be responsible for twins.
