Definition of an abnormal count from a spermanalysis:
  • Azoospermia: No sperm in the ejaculate
  • Oligozoospermia: Not enough sperm (Less than 20 million/ml)
  • Polyzoospermia: Excessively high sperm concentration.
  • Aspermia: No ejaculate volume
  • Hypospermia: Ejaculate volume <1.5 ml
  • Hyperspermia: Ejaculate volume >5.5 ml
  • Pyospermia: Leukocytes (germ-fighter cells) present in semen
  • Hematospermia: Red blood cells present in semen
  • Asthenozoospermia: Sperm motility <40%
  • Teratozoospermia: > 40% of sperm are abnormal
  • Necrozoospermia: Nonviable ("dead") sperm
  • Oligoasthenozoospermia: Motile density <8 million sperm/ml
