What is Lymphocyte Count?
A lymphocyte count blood test measures the number of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, in a given blood sample. The results of the test are compared to normal lymphocyte levels. If numbers are elevated it could indicate an abnormal immune system response. Some conditions that cause increased lymphocytes include leukemia, severe acute respiratory syndrome and mononucleosis. A lymphocyte test is typically run as a series of tests to detect problems with immune system response.
