The problem with shoes and pregnancy

Being women we are always ready to go shoe shopping, pregnant or not! The problem is that pregnancy brings with it swollen feet. Although your feet might return to their normal size, for many women, the foot size does not return to its pre-pregnancy size even after the baby is born. So what should be done to take care of these problems without having to compromise on our love for shoes? Honestly there isn’t much you can do about it, as along with your expanding belly, your whole body goes through expansion.

When I was pregnant, I made the mistake of buying a number of designer shoes which were a size too large! No doubt they felt comfortable during pregnancy, but they became too big after my son was born, as my feet went back to their regular size. So here are a few things to keep in mind when you go shoe shopping while you are pregnant, so you don’t end up wasting a ton of money like me.

Don’t buy very expensive shoes:

It is best not to splurge on a pair of expensive shoes during pregnancy, as there is a more than likely chance that it won’t fit you properly once the baby arrives. Therefore if you want to indulge your shoe passion, then buy some low priced pairs of shoes, which you can toss out once you have your post pregnancy size!

Don’t buy too large a size:

If you have to get a bigger shoe size, then its best to buy only half a size bigger than your normal size. For example, if you normally wear a size 8, and during pregnancy you feet fit in a size 9, then buying a shoe sized 8.5 is a safer bet, as it is likely to fit you even after the baby arrives.

Don’t buy too many shoes:

Its best to whet your shoe appetite with 1-2 shoes during pregnancy and just wait till post partum to go all out on your shoe shopping trip. This will not only let you enjoy the fancy high heels which you covet later on, but will also save you the pain of having to throw away practically brand new shoes which are of no use to you due to the bad sizes!

So think twice before you reach for that extra pair of sexy sandals or the latest trendy boots of the season while you are pregnant!
