Infertility and fertility issues affect over 10 million couples and about 15-20 % of couples trying to get pregnant each year in the US. About 85% of couples trying to conceive get pregnant within 12 months of trying. Infertility is defined as the inability of a sexually active couple, who have had regular sex without any contraception, to conceive during 12 months. Infertility does not mean you will never get pregnant. About 50% of couples who have not been able to conceive within one year will still be able to get pregnant on their own in the second year. Approximately one in every five couples (20%) in the U.S. seeks infertility care during their lifetime. This results in more than 2 million office visits to healthcare providers each year. Up to 50% of the time, there is a male problem in infertile couples.
